Guryongpo Japanese House Street

Guryongpo Japanese House Street

Guryongpo, Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, is a port city that flourished 100 years ago by fishermen who migrated from Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. There are still about 50 Japanese-style houses left, and with the opening of the Guryongpo Modern History Museum in 2012, this place, where Japanese-style houses are gathered, has been cleaned up and became a representative tourist destination of Pohang City.

Among the attractions of Japanese house streets are a Japanese-style tea house called “Gori” and the mansion of Hashimoto Zenkichi (from Kagawa) built in the 1920s, which was renewed as a modern history museum. And there is Guryongpo Park on the hill behind the Japanese house street, and you can see Guryongpo Port.
