Cheongdo Wine Tunnel

Wainter Tunnel, located in Cheongdo-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, was constructed in 1896 and completed in 1904, and was opened with a length of 1,015 meters, a width of 4.5 meters and a height of 5.3 meters.

The Gyeongbu Line (Busan, Gyeongseong (Seoul) steam locomotive began operating in 1905, but it was closed in 1937 when the flat and straight Namseonghyeon Expressway was opened due to its steep slope and long mileage.

Cheongdo Wain Tunnel was constructed in a three-layered structure of rectangular granite and red bricks, so the interior condition is well preserved even after 120 years. In addition, it maintains a temperature of 15~16℃ and humidity of 60~70% throughout the year, so it has conditions for aging wine. Since the end of February 2006, Cheongdo Wine Co., Ltd. has been operating as a ripening warehouse and tasting space for persimmon wine.

In the early days, only 200m of Cheongdo wine was used as a tasting space and wine storage, but now the entire tunnel is divided into 100 to 200m units and opened as a space for tourists, such as a historical travel museum and a lightless dark space.

There are private wine shelves and mini bars on the tunnel walls, so you can taste the ripe persimmon wine in the tunnel. Nearby are tourist attractions such as Cheongdo Permanent Bullfighting Stadium and Yongam Hot Spring.
