Hello, if you go about 6km southeast along the Geumgang River from downtown Gongju, where the Baekje Historic District Gongsanseong Fortress and Songsan-ri Tombs are located, which were registered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2015, you will find the first Paleolithic ruins Site in Korea.
The Seokjang-ri Historic Site in Gongju is the largest prehistoric cultural site in Korea, where excavations began in 1964 by Yonsei University’s Dr. Son Bo-gi’s team and excavations were conducted 13 times from 1964 to 1992. In 2006, Seokjangri Museum was built.
