Unlike regular gimbap, Chungmu gimbap is a gimbap that you wrap rice in the size of your index finger and eat it with gochujang-flavored fish cake, squid, and sliced radish kimchi.
Chungmu Gimbap, named after Chungmu Port in Namhae, began to be widely known nationwide in the early 80s, but its history is long.
The former Chungmu Passenger Terminal in Chungmu-si, which used to be a maritime center connecting Busan and Yeosu, was frequented by people not only traveling between Busan and Yeosu but also the islands around Chungmu.
So, near the head of the deck, there were a lot of packers selling food and gimbap to passengers on board. At first, they sold regular gimbap, but on a sunny day, the gimbap went bad quickly, so the ingredients were separated from the rice and ingredients.
Nampo Chungmu Gimbap is a restaurant that specializes only in Chungmu Gimbap and is located within the Nampo-dong Movie Theater Street, making it easy to find. One serving is 7,000 won.
