Goseong-gun, located about an hour and 50 minutes from the Busan Western Intercity Bus Terminal, is located on the southern coast of Gyeongsangnam-do, bordering Changwon-si to the east, Sacheon-si to the west, Haman-gun to the north, and the sea to the south, providing an advantageous location. It is the place where Sogaya, one of the ancient Gaya empires that took advantage of these location conditions, flourished, and Songhak-dong Ancient Tombs is located in the north of Goseong City at that time.

Tourist attractions include Yeonhwasan Mountain, Okcheonsa Temple, General Yi Sun-sin's Danhangpo Naval Danghangpo Tourist Site during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, Maruiasiam County Park with Mesozoic dinosaur footprints, and some remains behind Goseong-gun Office.
